A significant proportion of heat loss in a typical home is lost due to air leakage, poor insulation, leaky ducting, inefficient windows and doors, to name a few, and so, with fuel prices going through the pain barrier, there has never been a better time to plug the gaps and lock out the cold.
Insulation is the most single important element for energy efficiency, and a key element in reducing energy bills. There are several reasons why it is important to install the correct insulation.
WALLTITE® can provide a thermally efficient, seamless airtight solution in three vital areas:
(a) sprayed between the rafters and joists to eliminate air leakage and help control the movement of vapour and moisture throughout the building, reducing energy loss in line with Part L;
(b) as an insulation to suspended timber or concrete, or beam and block floors. Underfloor heating pipes can be fixed to the foam with the normal clips. The process is extremely quick to apply compared to other methods and the problems of insulation boards lifting are avoided. Site overhead time and material waste from off-cuts are minimised
(c) as a cavity injection insulation, to maximise the thickness of wall insulation, seal the house from draughts around window and door frames and reduce carbon emissions for the life of the property. In addition, the closed cell structure of the polyurethane foam provides resistance to moisture ingress and is not affected by mould or fungal growth.
One of the advantages of applying WALLTITE® is that the substrate requires minimal preparation and usually no primer is necessary. On refurbishment projects, stonework, brick or masonry is simply dusted off prior to application. WALLTITE® is then spray applied to the internal walls between timber studwork, fixed slightly off the wall in order to eliminate the potential for cold bridging.
WALLTITE® is only available to the self-build market through the WALLTITE® Approved Contractors scheme (Foam Masters) which ensures that contractors who install our products are fully trained and supported by our technical team.
