WALLTITE achieves Class 0 certification

The uniquely flexible WALLTITE polyurethane spray foam insulation system has now achieved Class 0 certification as described in Approved Document B of the Building Regulations: it is therefore now approved for use in all internal areas, including circulation and escape routes.

The Class 0 rating is achieved using a combination of WALLTITE CL 100 spray applied polyurethane foam insulation with WALLTITE FB 100 water based intumescent coating.

To achieve this classification the WALLTITE composite system has been tested under BS 476-6 relating to fire propagation and BS 476-7 relating to surface spread of flame.

Launched in the UK in 2010, WALLTITE spray foam insulation is proving to be a speedy and adaptable solution for achieving impressive thermal efficiency with particular benefits for retrofitting to internal surfaces.

The system can be applied to most substrates: its method of application means that it provides effective insulation even for irregular surfaces and difficult profiles.

A recent project demonstrating the product’s effectiveness was the refurbishment of the Victorian Terrace buildings at the Building Research Establishment, where WALLTITE was applied to very rough brickwork in the presentation area. Applied to a maximum depth of 100mm the insulation layer achieved a U-value of 0.24W/m2K.

WALLTITE can be used on all horizontal or vertical surfaces and is currently proving most popular in difficult to treat refurbishment projects. Residential and commercial premises are equally appropriate, with the new fire rating paving the way for the product’s increased use in multi-occupancy housing units.
